Greenoak Scoops two National Housing Awards

The greenest social housing organisations in the UK were congratulated at a special environmentally friendly awards ceremony in London, hosted by comedian, writer and climate change campaigner Mark Watson, and organised by Inside Housing magazine and its sister-publication Sustainable Housing.

Greenoak won the coveted Social Housing Provider of the Year - Innovative Approach to Green Homes Award, beating off stiff competition from more than 100 entrants from all around the country.

Greenoak also received a second award for low energy social housing project of the year, and was the only winner of two awards.

Nick Duxbury, the editor of Sustainable Housing, said: "Our headlines are dominated by the gloom of cuts, so it is fantastic to be able to report the incredibly positive CO2 cuts being delivered by social landlords. We received an exceptionally high standard of entries and the caliber of our winners demonstrates how the social housing sector continues to forge the UK's sustainable path to a green economy. Right now the government is looking to our sector for guidance, so we will feature all the winners in the next edition of Sustainable Housing and deliver a copy into the hands of climate change minister Greg Barker.
