greenoakha - our sustainability awards

our sustainability awards

Against stiff competition from over 100 rival entries, Greenoak won the Housing Corporation's prestigious Gold award in 2007, for our outstanding work and innovation in providing residents with eco-friendly homes.

We have since won two other major national awards presented at Inside Housing's Sustainability Awards in 2010:

Low energy social housing project of the year
Social Housing Provider of the Year - Innovative Approach to Green Homes Award

Our innovative greenhomes developments are in Woking and Normandy, Guildford and Storrington, West Sussex. These all achieve overall CO2 emissions below UK Building Regulations requirements.

We have also improved the energy efficiency of our older properties so that our overall average SAP energy efficiency rating is 92, (the UK average is 51).

On-site renewables and water recycling are not used because we have concentrated on the structure and on reducing the demand for water and energy. Also, all new houses are future-proofed to allow gas boilers to be replaced for example, connecting to district heating systems.

The association works with parish councils to tailor rural schemes to meet local needs. Our partnership record impressed the judges.
One of the difficulties Greenoak faces is to find new development sites. We are seeking land owners in the south-east for future greenhomes developments
